Job Description

Join our winning team as a Maintenance Coating, Linings and Insulation Technologist in Plaquemine, LA. The Maintenance Coating, Linings, and Insulation Technologist hasthe primary responsibility to render quality assurance inspection services and provides recommendations regarding the application, maintenance, and improvement of various coatings, fireproofing, linings (Rubber and Epoxy/spray-on), concrete coatings, and insulation in a petrochemical plant and applicator shops. This role will use Olin Global Standards and EMETLs to write specifications, perform corrosion assessment, prepare bid packages, and select skilled crafts to deliver coatings, linings, fireproofing and insulation repairs and replacement at the Plaquemine, LA and St. Gabriel, LA sites.

Coating, Linings and Insulation Technologist Position Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for coatings, linings, concrete coatings, fireproofing, and insulation for all type of process equipment in areas such as Operations, Maintenance, and Logistics, manufacturers/industry leaders, specifications, Electronic Most Effective Technology (EMETLS), ranges of testing, inspection technique, and quality assurance for the Plaquemine and St. Gabriel Sites; respond/react immediately to emergency jobs during and outside of regular working hours to ensure minimal environmental and/or production losses.
  • Participate in RCIs providing evaluation of equipment failures, potential root causes, as well as providing input on equipment maintenance strategies, to Olin Tech Centers, OASIS Teams, and Purchasing as needed.
  • Provide technical expertise to daily maintenance, turnaround, purchasing, and project teams by providing detailed job scope which outlines surface preparations, application, welding requirements for internal liners, hold points, materials, QC, repairs, specifications, estimates, contractor strategies, and reporting.
  • Lead and oversee all onsite and offsite equipment repairs, replacements, and part refurbishments by following best and current practices ensuring key stakeholders and parties are provided accurate and timely updates.
  • Plaquemine and St. Gabriel paint program Focal Point working in conjunction with Leadership, Business, and Project Teams to develop and define annual work scopes that follow annual budgetary guidelines.
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize jobs based on asset condition assessments while ensuring all daily maintenance is performed according to specification and job scope, and in compliance with Olin Maintenance Work processes.
  • Own, develop, and update procedures to ensure compliance with the Maintenance Procedure Use Policy and input current and accurate data into electronic systems.
Coating, Linings and Insulation Technologist Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years of technical training from an accredited school of higher learning in coatings, linings, insulation, and mechanical related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of QA inspections, writing specifications, linings, fireproofing, insulation, corrosion assessment, and creating/managing budgets; 10 years accumulative Chemical Industry experience in a shop and field environment preferred.
  • Chlor Alkali, chemical processing, paper and pulp or refinery maintenance and construction experience and NACE1 and NACE 2 with certification credentials for coating, lining, and inspections required.
  • Working knowledge of SSPC (Steel Structure Painting Council) systems and specifications, the use of destructive and non-destructive coating and linings instruments and inspection techniques, and industry standards as they pertain to coatings, linings, fireproofing, rubber linings, and insulation requirements.
  • Capable of working in outdoor weather and extreme environmental conditions, including high elevations, be able to climb, work in confined spaces, and work 40% inside the office and 60% in the field/shops.
  • Self-driven, good interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, detail-oriented personality with proven effective verbal and written communication skills strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Products; trouble-shooting and analytical skills, and effective at training and educating others.
  • Must be available for call-ins, weekend call, plant turnarounds, and overtime at a short notice based on plant's needs, available for weekend call and holdover overtime. Some domestic travel required (approximately <20%)
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
