Basic Job Functions:

  1. Responsible for the management of services, operation and business processes which involves both strategic planning and day-to-day operations for Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing departments. Plan, coordinate, organize and lead the campus site services operation of Facilities, to ensure that the systems are in compliance to all internal and external regulatory requirements. Accountable to ensure all operations of the site services meet the company's objectives and goals at all times and strive to enhance the capabilities of performance while focusing on improving operation efficiency.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years Facility engineering experience in a manufacturing setting or the equivalent experience.
  • Possess good leadership skills in Supervisory / Management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Facilities equipment systems including electrical, mechanical and pneumatic/hydraulic with electrical controls a plus.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and supervisory skills.
  • Proven ability to multi -task in an extremely fast-paced changing environment.
  • Proven working knowledge of HVAC, Industrial processes, mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, BMS controls, IT infrastructure, and facilities engineering.
  • Knowledge of facilities operations and facility systems maintenance and repair.
  • Proven knowledge of the manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Proven knowledge of building, ADA, life safety, and NFPA 70 E Standards and codes.
  • Proven knowledge of security procedures and systems.
  • Proven knowledge of office and facility design, engineering and construction.
  • Experienced in developing and executing strategies for office space planning and office facility management.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proven knowledge of managing skilled trades in a large facility operation.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Candidates must have proven experience-managing facilities in a large, sophisticated fast-paced environment and must have sound judgment, strong strategic thinking skills, experience with budgeting and financial management, and a demonstrated commitment to serving a multicultural workforce and customer base.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of facilities and grounds maintenance repairs for the First Solar campus and manufacturing/office facilities to ensure a world class operation.
  • Manage projects, coordinate equipment installations, and utility add/moves/changes.
  • Responsible for site space planning of installations for manufacturing equipment, development equipment and office space planning.
  • Oversee the entire site Facilities management to deliver excellent services by creating an optimal, safe and cost effective operation.
  • Lead the facilities/site services team to operate and maintain the PBG building facilities management to meet all internal specifications and external requirements, which include ISO14001, ISO9001, OHSAS 18001.
  • Join the Facilities Technical Resource Team for global input/alignment related to facilities projects governed by the Change Management System. This requires building and maintaining strong communications with global facility teams.
  • Responsible for effective communications, motivation, and fostering team building.
  • Ensure competitive bidding and award of contract/outsourced facility services.
  • Manage cafe services and ensure high-quality, cost-efficient services.
  • Manage facility projects and ensure schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Participate in weekly facility inspections to ensure maintenance and repairs are observed and resolved in a speedy and cost-efficient manner.
  • Establish metrics to track maintenance and repair cost and encourage cost reduction ideas and improved facility operation efficiency.
  • Manage the facilities work order process to ensure quick and efficient responses to customer requests and inquiries.
  • Ensure all life safety systems, state inspections, risk management observations and corporate facility maintenance objectives are met and accurately reported.
  • Supervise subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure that all facility contractors and on-site vendors are aware and follow /adhere to all First Solar safety, security and EHS procedures.
  • Interface and coordinate with other departments to ensure high customer satisfaction and efficient cost-effective facility operations.
  • Responsible for department budget process and audits to ensure that First Solar financial goals and objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Manage outsourced architectural/engineering services.
  • Provide updates on project status, repairs/breakdowns, maintenance observations and recommendations.
  • Responsible for ensuring maximum uptime of facility systems to minimize production downtime and facility system outages.
  • Ensure the facility is maintained in "like new" condition; coordinate requests for facility changes to ensure consistency between First Solar sites.

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $94,700 $135,000, Annually

US Physical Requirements:

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
