In this role, the successful candidate will be instrumental in pioneering the use of emerging technologies in bridge engineering. You will lead a skilled team of engineers and technicians, leveraging innovative solutions for the design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridges. This role is pivotal in capturing and executing projects for state and local transportation agencies, where your expertise will shape the future of infrastructure development by blending traditional engineering with the latest technological advancements.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the management of multiple concurrent projects, showcasing your ability to lead with passion, excellence, and efficiency. Your role will be integral in shaping project outcomes and exceeding client expectations
  • Proactively communicate with staff, managers, clients, and subconsultants ensuring that project deadlines and goals are met with exceptional results
  • Lead both internal and external meetings, ensuring clear communication and goal alignment across all levels of the project team
  • Learn, adapt, and integrate emerging technologies into your work practices
  • Compose compelling, qualification-based proposals and fee estimates
  • Administer NBIS federal standards on select projects and rigorously review deliverables to ensure they meet federal, state, and internal standards
  • Ensure project compliance with quality and safety management systems
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing complex data and using asset management databases to streamline project processes
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge across various disciplines, ensuring seamless interdisciplinary coordination
  • Supervise, manage, mentor, and develop staff in bridge engineering principles, including preservation, repair, load ratings, service life assessments, and structural investigations using material testing and nondestructive testing techniques
  • Lead the development of program improvement initiatives, demonstrating foresight and strategic planning
  • Conduct occasional field inspections and assessments as necessary, ensuring hands-on involvement and in-depth understanding of structural damage and deterioration methods

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is essential. A Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering is highly preferred, underlining our commitment to advanced expertise in the field
  • A valid Louisiana Professional Engineer license is required
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in bridge engineering and related services, including a minimum of 5 years in roles such as a project engineer or manager. Experience specifically in Louisiana bridge projects is strongly preferred, reflecting our focus on regional expertise
  • NBIS Team Leader experience, with the NHI-130055 certification. We welcome both current and expired certifications
  • A foundational understanding of Bridge Load Rating principles and familiarity with relevant software, including AASHTOWare BrR
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are crucial, enabling you to communicate effectively with teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Previous experience with project interviews, demonstrating your ability to represent and advocate for projects effectively
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required by project demands, emphasizing flexibility and commitment
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods is preferred
  • Selected candidate must consent to and a pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening

Physical requirements:

Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment. Travel to project sites and client meetings.
