We are seeking a Regional Project Lead for our East Gulf Coast PROS (Project Resources and Outage Support) team located in Gonzales, LA. This position requires up to 15-30% domestic travel.

This role reports to the North America Project Engineering Manager. Theessential functionsof this role include:

  • Manage all functions of a Project Engineering team including day-to-day management of Project Engineers, Designers and Construction Managers

  • Main point of contact between the operational facilities, business area stakeholders and the project engineering team

  • Manages workload of all employees within sub-region

  • Handles appropriate staffing levels for the region to meet project demand including engineering team resources required for efficient project execution.

  • Participate in the TAR planning process and ensure staffing is appropriate to execute capital projects in large plant turnarounds.

  • Oversee all engineering, design, and construction resources in East Gulf Coast Region to include the Our Way of Leading (OWL) process.

  • Mentor Project Engineers through their careers

  • Review all funding requests and project estimate prior to issuance for approval.

  • Ensure all projects receive adequate hazard and safety reviews and that all recommendations are completed in a timely manner and documented appropriately.

  • Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs and site demolition plans.

  • Oversee regional contractor development strategy through partnership with Air Products procurement team.

  • Evaluate bid tabs for major contracts prior to bid award.

  • Conduct yearly contractor audits to ensure compliance with EH&S standards.

  • Manage Project Safety and ensure proper communication protocols are followed.

  • Prepare and lead monthly safety meetings for the region communicating various incidents across the fleet and apply findings.

  • Responsible for managing the Capital Project forecast and capital plan (development and execution) for the region, near-term and long-term.

  • Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer.

  • Gain a basic understanding of the operating plant environment, process and equipment.

  • Lead monthly project status and gatekeeping meetings for the region with all stakeholders in the region.

  • Understand quality standards as outlined by Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.

  • Timely review and approval of team's time entry and expense reports

  • Ensure compliance of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) requirements as it relates to project staffing, as those requirements are identified, understood and deemed required.

  • Maintain accurate status of sub-region key performance indicators to stay aware of region and team performance.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, or capital projects experience (10 years minimum)

  • Strong leadership abilities

  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills

  • Self-motivated and willingness to learn and improve.

  • High ethical standards

  • Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours.

  • Plant outage experience

  • Works professionally and harmoniously with employees, peers, management, support personnel, program participants and business area persons.

  • Applies positive and constructive attitude toward resolution of problems and conflicts.

  • Accepts direction, constructive feedback, and supervision.

  • Understands that person's role is to ensure project safety and execution shall be in compliance with APCI standards and policies.

  • Keep software tools and databases, used to manage the project sub-region, current.

  • Has excellent SAP skills within the Project System roles

Education Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering at minimum

Work Hours & Benefits:

Typical work week is 40 hours. Longer hours are required during project or outage execution which may also require working some weekends. Travel may be required to different regions in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. The work environment is diverse from an office setting to onsite at Air Products operating facilities to visiting contractor shops. The ability to walk around a plant, supervise contractors, climb stairs and ladders is required. Project Engineers in this group are responsible for all aspects of a project from scoping, estimating, design, funding requests through execution and handover to the operational facility. This positions the candidate for success for a variety of roles within Air Products through the progression of their career.
