The Davey Resource Group (DRG) is currently hiring certified arborists, professional foresters, horticulturalists, natural resource specialists, environmental scientists, GIS technicians, and plant and outdoor enthusiasts to join our workforce.

Responsibilities
  • Be an integral part of day to day vegetation management operations with our utility client
  • Build and maintain a 3-4 week schedule
  • Support operations and work on process improvement initiatives, schedule, and coordination of vegetation management activities
  • Meet with district forestry personnel to facilitate schedule lockdown meetings and discuss delays, crew and equipment issues, and receive feedback
  • Track work management metrics: (i.e., percentages of each work type and schedule compliance)
  • Identify schedule attainment goals, track schedule and productivity and manage project deadlines
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts promptly and find suitable alternatives
  • Manage and oversee daily related vegetation operations to support client peers
  • Provide client and contractor support
  • Possibly respond to customer complaints and concerns
  • May manage emergency work, i.e, for severe storms, power shutoff events
  • Communicates with peers, exchanging ideas or gathering information on overall program plan and goals within a specific functional area of operations
  • Communicate with landowners and agencies regarding work on or near their property
  • Support vegetation management operations and outside contractor work performance
  • Execution of desired projects/reports
  • Generate work requests and facilitate employee work planning
  • Update project dates and status
  • Identify schedule attainment goals, track schedule and productivity and manage project deadlines
  • Support client with any additional clerical duties
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong skills in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and basic computer applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter and able to stay on task while working independently
  • Effective time management and prioritization
  • Ability to recognize trends and implement new processes
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; focused on delivering program results
  • High level of ownership in one's own work and the results of the program
  • Desire to work daily with other contractors, DRG leadership and SWEPCO clients
  • Thrives on adaptation, continual learning and training and is detail oriented
  • Possesses a high level of utility vegetation management and arboriculture knowledge
  • Organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt and overcome obstacles
  • Strong ability to multitask in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Flexibility and open to possibility of overtime and working outside regular schedule
  • 1 or more years of experience in utility vegetation management or a similar industry (tree care, landscape professional, etc.)
  • Associate's degree in Forestry or a related field (horticulture, urban forestry, environmental science, etc.)
