Job Description

Waggonner & Ball, a Moffatt & Nichol Studio, is actively seeking an Architect to join our New Orleans, LA office. The Senior Architect will be actively working with our staff and leadership team on projects across the United States. This position leads a variety of assignments requiring the application of architectural techniques for a variety of projects. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard architectural design techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of creative design concepts for clients/projects.
  • Leads creative design direction during the conceptual and schematic phases of projects.
  • Directs and/or prepares and produces CAD drawings to create and document architectural designs.
  • Interfaces with client on design issues and determines and develops architectural solutions.
  • Leads modifications and reviews of production drawings and construction documents; corrects and updates documents as required.
  • Leads development of solutions for basic design problems.
  • Leads master planning, site planning and building planning and design efforts and documentation development, utilizing 2-D and 3-D modeling and digital presentation packaging.
  • Leads design computations, specifications, compile data for basic to complex architectural assignments.
  • Collaborates with team members to advance the design concepts.
  • Prepares finished material sample boards and graphic presentations for client approval.
  • Coordinates with outside disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical and other consultants with the architectural designs.
  • Reviews building codes and conducts zoning analyses to ensure that designs comply with minimum legal standards.
  • Ensures timely and effective management and delivery of drawings to ensure project goals and objectives have been satisfied.
  • Stays current with graphic standards and building construction methods.
  • Researches construction materials and systems.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; required
    • Bachelor's degree in Architecture; preferred
    • Master's degree in Architecture; preferred
  • 10+ years of architecture and design experience; required
  • Registered Architect (RA) licensure; required
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness; required
  • Business Development experience; required
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Software
    • Mastery in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe CC Suite; required
    • Mastery of Rendering Software, Lumion and Enscape; preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Interest in working at all scales of intervention and planning from regional systems to details
  • Interest in working at all scales of intervention and planning from regional systems to details
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

General office setting. Travel required, approximately 20%.

Physical requirements:

Ability to use standard office equipment. Sits for a prolonged period of time.
