Job Description

We are seeking an Ancillary Structure Project Manager to join our Inspection and Rehabilitation team in the Baton Rouge (preferred) or New Orleans office. As the Project Manager, you will be guiding a team of professional engineers and assistant inspectors from various offices to provide supreme consulting services to DOT Project Managers. The principal function of this position is to lead and grow Moffatt & Nichol's ancillary inspection program which includes the following assets: overhead sign structures, traffic signal mast arms, traffic control structures, high mast lights towers, mechanically stabilized earth walls (MSE), sound barriers, etc.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of professionals, pre-professionals and assistants to complete routine and interim inspections of ancillary transportation structures on a timely basis
  • Further develop the Ancillary Program and the inventory management database
  • Perform quality control reviews of ancillary and bridge reports
  • Perform field inspections within the State of Louisiana of various transportation structures as needed
  • Interface with LADOTD Headquarters and Districts regularly
  • Prepare traffic control plans and public notifications
  • Write technical proposals for various DOT Maintenance projects
  • Collaborate with I&R leadership and other offices for workshare management
  • Ensure appropriate field safety documents are prepared and filed
  • Load rate and analyze deteriorated elements for structural integrity
  • Analyze and evaluate design drawings, specifications and estimates as needed
  • Adhere to the Moffatt & Nichol Quality Management System for all projects and develop client care plans accordingly

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • PE required, with the ability to obtain a Louisiana PE within 6 months
  • 6 to 15+ years of bridge and ancillary structure inspection or design experience
  • Overhead sign structure or MSE wall (Mechanically Stabilized Earth Wall) design experience required
  • NHI-130055 certification at minimum required; NHI-130087 or others preferred
  • Bridge design and load rating experience preferred
  • Experience with special access equipment such as aerial lifts and rope access preferred
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, leading and serving as necessary
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required. Travel is primarily within the state of employment, typically does not require an overnight stay and rarely on weekends
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Due to client requirements, selected candidate must consent to and a pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screening
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

Traversing unstable ground, structure climbing with fall protection, lifting and carrying equipment, sedentary for long periods of time, and travel.
