Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment associated with diving operations including but not limited to: dive compressors, dive umbilicals, diving helmets, regulators, hydraulic power units (HPU), dive control vans, deck chambers, radios, video equipment, air and gas racks. Desirable but not essential, able to maintain and repair saturation diving systems, gas blending system, gas reclaim system, habitat control system, bell launch and recovery system.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the equipment used in the diving industry.
  • Able to repair and maintain compressor systems.
  • Possess an understanding of the operation and repair of A/C and D/C voltage equipment.
  • Be able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical schematics.
  • Must be capable of conducting maintenance operations in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper operation and use of all equipment related to air diving, including decompression chambers.
  • Knowledge of air/gas/saturation diving procedures and techniques including JSEAs.
  • Must show discretion, good judgment, organizational or management ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
  • Perform maintenance/repairs on equipment offshore and in the diving yard.
  • Service diving hats / helmets.
  • Maintain/repair electronics.
  • Maintain/repair hydraulics.
  • Maintain/repair mechanics.
  • Use test equipment, calibrate and align equipment, and perform general housekeeping and corrosion control.
  • Establish and maintain parts and supplies associated with all diving equipment.
  • Work in the diving yard when not working offshore.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilties.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • At least 12 months training or experience in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical training.
  • Certified Kirby Morgan diving hat technician.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Passport and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

PREFERRED

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), Technical/Associates degree.
Additional Information

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels and the light is intense/glare.
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
