Co-op - Industrial Engineering (Summer 2019 Only) (18013489)

Description

The Co-ops will be assisting and supporting engineers to gain first-hand knowledge in manufacturing processes and best practices, lean concepts, engineering design, tooling and assembly processes, and assembly line layouts.

Responsibilities:

The student's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform time studies and work content analysis in manufacturing environment
  • Act as additional resource on projects associated with cost reduction, downtime, quality, safety, scrap reduction, speed, sustainability, throughput, or facility improvements
  • Analyze/design current state and work to establish improved standard work
  • Develop execution plans for assigned projects (i.e., detailed plan, milestones, and work breakdown structures) to ensure the project will be successfully completed on time
  • Present technical information in management review meetings
  • Utilize 2D and 3D CAD Software Systems to update plant layouts
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements

Basic:
  • Undergraduate student, pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Ability to work required schedule (Monday - Friday,8:00AM-4:30PM) during the scheduled term
  • Must have technical aptitude (analytical and decision-making skills)
  • Must have ability to quickly learn new processes
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and digital)
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate student, pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher strongly preferred
  • Sophomore or higher standing preferred
  • Self-motivated with leadership capabilities
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is a plus
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar programs (i.e. Inventor, Visio, etc)
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently
  • Basic understanding of project management
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing
